After the Election
With apologies to Howard Thurman for the paraphrasing/plagiarizing:
When the polls have all closed,
When the votes have all been counted,
When the candidates have gone home,
When the crowds have dispersed,
The work of rebuilding our nation begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the brothers,
to make music in the heart.
When the polls have all closed,
When the votes have all been counted,
When the candidates have gone home,
When the crowds have dispersed,
The work of rebuilding our nation begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the brothers,
to make music in the heart.
