As you point out, it's not the bulk of the cost, but it's a start, and perhaps something other districts might consider. However, I think that if the Fifth Principle Project keeps going the direction they're pointing in this is all going to be moot anyway.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17808719297411366303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7690830057835669205.post-8573114623321180532010-03-02T14:33:35.479-05:002010-03-02T14:33:35.479-05:00I agree Heather, except that I don't find thei...I agree Heather, except that I don't find their suggestions all that helpful! I'm already trying to spend frugally, and their fund raising ideas are either too time-consuming or not practical for a minister to do. I think they need to have more sliding-scale options for registration for ministers and seminarians in particular.Cynthia L. The GA site is very helpful in that regard. But someone who is volunteering 24 hours during GA, and following the other frugal options, is having a very different experience from someone not similarly constrained.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11979209082140964109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7690830057835669205.post-14011349950720354772010-02-27T18:30:40.689-05:002010-02-27T18:30:40.689-05:00And then of course there are those who would argue...And then of course there are those who would argue that UUA GA's aren't *really* all that democratic at all. . .

So just what *are* you and other UUs actually paying for Rev. I'm 27. Folks my age don't have the 1500ish dollars its going to take.

It is classist, I agree, but there is also a generational problem here, because people like me who are starting off in their careers, post-college just don't have that kind of money around. I wouldn't, if it weren't for, well, my grandma's will. As I've never been to a GA I can't comment for sure, but I truly doubt the amount of young adults who attend GA are anything close to representing our true numbers in congregations.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7690830057835669205.post-89734218455206652362010-02-26T14:05:08.688-05:002010-02-26T14:05:08.688-05:00Hear, hear!
